Hello, dearheart! I write this to you while cruising down the highway somewhere between Decatur and Wichita Falls, Texas. David and I have visited our girl and are headed back home. So, in the interest of posting this before my computer battery tuckers out, I’ll keep my chit chat here on the shorter side. Without further ado, here’s my latest list of favorite things!
These Are a Few of My Favorite Things: Road Trip Edition
Pet Car Bed: We’re traveling more and more with our pup, Rafa, and I wanted to get a better system set up for when he travels with us. So, when this item came up in my instagram feed, I was promptly influenced and purchased it! My favorite thing about it is that it’s washable!
Pet Harness: Rafa wears this when we’re traveling, and it also works well with the aforementioned travel bed because we can connect it to the bungee style leash that the pet bed comes with.
Sports Bra: If you could listen to conversations within the walls of my home, at some point you would’ve literally heard me say, “If we can put people in outer space, why in the SAM HILL can’t we make sports bras with the cups sewn in?!?” Well, BIG thanks to Melanie Shankle for sharing this link to an actual sports bra with cups sewn in! HALLELU and GLORY BE. Dreams do come true!
Waking Up to the Goodness of God by Susie Larson: On Instagram, Annie Downs shared that she was going to go through this 40 day devotional for Lent. I LOVE Susie’s writing and because Lent snuck up on me this year, I hadn’t picked a Lenten reading. So, I decided to make like Annie and read this during Lent, too. Now, this is not a Lenten devo per se, but with 40 individual readings, it can be treated as such.
The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion (Vol 1) by Beth Brower: This was recommended to me by my friend Rachel Wagner who never steers me wrong in books! It’s a smaller book–more like a pamphlet, really, but the writing is whip-smart and entertaining as all get out. As the kids say, it brings the Jane Austen vibes. I’m loving it!
Finding Joy in the Empty Nest: Discovering Purpose and Passion in the Next Phase of Life by Jim Burns: David and I listened to this on the way to Texas, and we really liked it. If you’ve read Jim’s Doing Life with Your Adult Children, you’ll find this is very similar in tone but with mostly new content.
Landman: This show is another one that, like Yellowstone, comes to us from Taylor Sheridan. It’s also one that both my husband and I both really enjoyed watching. Taking place in oil towns of Texas, it’s all about the oil industry. To me, it’s easier to watch than Yellowstone (less violence, all in all) and it’s much funnier. I’ve never really been a Billy Bob Thornton fan, but he’s great in this! Note: For several reasons this show ain’t for the kiddos!
Marble Scalloped Tray: In an effort to make my kitchen sink area more functional AND pretty, I bought this cute tray to place my soaps and a little plant on. It’s SUPER cute and I love it!
Alcohol Wipes: I’ve shared a different brand of these before, but I’m sharing these as the original brand I shared is no longer available. These are super handy for cleaning your computer screen, phone, and a hundred other things whether you’re traveling or not!
Orange Pistachio Oat Bars: Unlike her mother, my daughter has an iron willpower when it comes to sugar intake. At her age, I was having a Coke alongside a Little Debbie snack cake pretty much every day. She eats a little dark chocolate every whipstitch. ANYWAY, I made some of these oat bars as part of her Valentine care package, and she loved them. Maybe someone in your family will love them, too!
Red Wine Braised Pot Roast: Did I share this recipe before? My apologies if so, but it is SO GOOD and perfect for a cold winter evening.
That’s all for this month! We’ll see you next month, and may you and yours have a wonderful Lenten season!
