Hello and happy Spring, dearheart! Usually at this point of April, I’m whining to you about Colorado’s never ending winter and wondering when I’ll be able to wear short sleeves again. Welp, not this year! We’ve had the mildest of mild winters. And I both love it and am skeered of it cuz less snow means it’s more dry. The fire danger is real this year, folks. (Since I live in the woods, I’d doubly love your prayers that we stay fire-free through the spring and summer!)
On the bright side, thanks to the warmer temps AND my unrelenting perimenopause, I’ve been regularly wearing short sleeves since March! đ
Anyhoo, let’s skedaddle onwards and upwards to These Are a Few of My Favorite Things: Bonafide Spring Edition!
These Are a Few of My Favorite Things: Bonafide Spring Edition
The Correspondent: A Novel by Virginia Evans: If you’re a fan of books + letter writing, you’ll love this novel. It’s beautifully written with great character development.
Strangers by Belle Burden: Wowzers, this story about how the author’s own marriage fell apart is somethin’ else. I listened to the audio version of this one which is read by Belle herself, and it’s so well done–and the writing is so good–that I finished it in just a few days.
Baked Jambalaya: Â My husband loves jambalaya, and my attempt to find an easy recipe for it led me to this one. It’s DELISH and WOW does it come together very quickly!
Hummingbird Cookies: I made these for my daughter’s Easter basket, and she LOVED them! (Yes, she’s 22, but I just can’t quit the Easter basket tradition for her or her brothers!) I made these oatmeal cookies for my sons’ baskets, and they gave favorable reports as well! I gotta say that I was really impressed with the hummingbird cookies–they’re a fun twist on the classic Southern Hummingbird cake!
Floral Mini Spiral Notebook: I first bought this journal from Fabled Bookshop in Waco, TX last summer, and I loved it so much that I had to look for the same one elsewhere. It’s the best journal-notebook I’ve bought in a long time! First of all, it’s spiral–the only kind of journal to buy in my book. But it also has a handy pocket in it as well!
Ipad/Tablet holder: I had an extensive speaking engagement earlier this month, and I bought this to hold my iPad which had all my notes for my talks. It worked beautifully for me!
Shower Steamers: These also went into my daughter’s Easter basket, and she really liked them!
Lilac Dish Soap: I’m mighty partial to Mrs. Meyers soaps, and this one is the epitome of spring to me. You can find a link to the hand soap here and countertop spray here!
Richard Scarry Board Book: I loved RS books as a kid, my kids loved them when they were little, and now I’m having fun buying them for friends having babies (and grand babies)! This RS board book and others like this are the CUTEST!
Old Navy Leggings:. Soft, comfy, and sold at a fantastic price point! Win/win/win! Oh, and they’re high rise, which is another win for me!
Old Navy Tank Top: When I’m working out, I need a tank top with some length. I *think* I first heard of this one from the fashion-wise Melanie Shankle, and I truly love it. I loved it so much that I bought it in a second color.
Magic Spoon Protein Granola: My friend Holley told me about this protein rich/no sugar added granola, and I LOVE IT. It goes in my yogurt almost every day!
That’s all for today, dear hearts! May you have a fabulous weekend!
Much love,
Kristen
