Hello, m’dearheart! I’m afraid that with two deadlines breathing down my neck, my February list of “These Are a Few of My Favorite Things” will be on the succinct side. Or rather, my explanations about them will be. But since many folks continue to tell me how much they enjoy this offering, I wanted to still get it out to you!
From me to you, friend, here ya go!
These Are a Few of My Favorite Things
Bacon Cheeseburger Rice Casserole: UM YES PLEASE. This was sooo good, and I’ll be making it again.
Comfy Sweater Set: It’s cute, comfy, and I LOVE it. (I’m wearing it in the above pic!)
Qwirkywriter Keyboard: This is a fun tool for yourself or the writer in your life. It’s a keyboard that connects to both Android and iPad tablets wired or wirelessly, and I LOVE it. It helps me work distraction-free, plus the “clickety clack” of the old-timey style keyboard is just plain fun. Above is the Amazon link, although my husband ordered mine as a Christmas gift from the company’s website several years ago.
Belt Bag: The belt bag has had a glow up from the days of yore when many of us called it a fanny pack. Myquillyn Smith introduced me to this cute and inexpensive one on Amazon. I wear it like a crossbody purse, and it’s perfect for day trips, the gym, or anywhere you don’t want to bring a big ol’ purse.
Alcohol Wipes: I use these handy dandy wipes to routinely clean my computer and my phone.
Farmacy “Honey Grail” Face Oil: Recently, I trekked to Sephora to get some makeup and moisturizer better suited for my mature skin 😬. While there, I talked with a sweet, knowledgeable gal, Julia, who suggested Farmacy’s face oil as a great moisturizer. I really, really like it. Per Julia’s instructions, I mix it with the moisturizer I’m currently using (Nivea) and it does really moisturize to the max. In full disclosure, my face looks like an oil slick when I crawl into bed at night, which my husband finds amusing. I just tell him that this is the price that must be paid for living over 7,000 feet above sea level. It’s beautiful, but the air is DRY.
In View of God’s Mercies: The Gift of the Gospel in Romans by Courtney Doctor: I’m doing this Bible study through my church, and I’m really enjoying it. I haven’t done group Bible study since before Covid, and it feels good to be back at it! And with such a lovely group, too. (Shout out to my awesome leader, Connie Bradley!)
Mostly What God Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere by Savannah Guthrie: If you know me at all, you know I love the Today show. Jane Pauley and Bryant Gumbel were the soundtrack of my childhood mornings while eating my cereal before school. I wanted to be Jane Pauley for the longest time (I wrote about this here!). I don’t watch Today much these days, but I do listen to parts of it on SiriusXM radio. Anyhoo, I’m about halfway through listening to Savannah’s book on Audible, and wow is she a wonderful writer who’s just so dang likable. I like her all the more for the way she shares her personal reflections on faith–especially as one who works in a very visible, public space.
Southern Pines Cabin: David and I stayed here over Valentine’s Day, and it was a dream. If you’ve ever been interested in going to Breckenridge, Colorado, this cabin is delightful and sleeps 8.
“Friendship Confessions” Series on Instagram: I’ve been confessing some things on Instagram about friendship, and you can find those here in some of my most recent posts. It’s been fun to think about components that make our friendships healthy and strong…and those that don’t. If you have anything you’d like to add on the subject, feel free to hit reply and send it my way!
That’s all for now, dearheart! Have a great week.
