Happy still-winter, friends! Before my daughter came home for Christmas break from college in Texas, she said she hoped she’d get to see some snow. Wish granted because snow blanketed the yard for the entirety of Christmas break.
And everyday since then.
That’s okay because December, January, and February are welcome to be as wintry as they want. I’ll even allow March to do the same. But if April and May decide to follow suit, then those of you in the warmer climates may one day find me in your own backyards.
Anyhoo, since my backyard requires tall snow boots to walk in, I’m not going outside as much as usual (that’s where the cold lives). So, enjoy a few of my favorite things: indoor delights! As is often the case, several of these favorites are tools that could be an avenue towards a new tradition or two for you. To read some of my previous favorite things, check this out here.
A Few of My Favorite Things: Indoor Delights
Outdoor Flickering Waterproof Candles: These are actually placed outdoors on my side deck, *but* I enjoy looking at them while standing indoors. I bought these candles for my big outdoor lantern, and I love them. They are battery operated, so they come on at a set time, and they turn off six hours later.
Silk Almond Milk Vanilla Creamer: I love dairy, but dairy doesn’t always love me. Hands down, this is my favorite non-dairy creamer for my tea! My husband and daughter love it for their coffee, too.
Paper Baked Salmon with Honey Soy Garlic Glaze: Well, this recipe is a DREAM–one of the easiest main dishes ever! The salmon is cooked in parchment paper, and it comes out so tender and flaky and flavorful! I made it for my good man on Valentine’s Day, and he loved it.
Madewell Skinny Flare Jeans: While eating at a restaurant in Tulsa, OK several months ago, I noticed there was a Madewell store around the corner. I actually tried on these jeans in the store! I loved them so much that I bought them.
Miss Scarlet and the Duke: Recently, we had our friends Ryan and Rebecca over, and we all talked about the fact that despite there being 127 ways to watch all manner of shows and movies, we found ourselves in a bit of a television slump. We ended up suggesting Poldark to them (we watched it years ago), and they suggested Masterpiece’s Miss Scarlet and the Duke to us. David and I LOVE it!
Creamy Coconut Chicken Tikka Masala: The directions include both crockpot and insta pot instructions, and I followed those for insta pot. YUM. YUM. YUM.
When Change Finds You: 31 Assurances to Settle Your Heart When Life Stirs You Up: If you’ve faced a difficult change in recent months or will in the coming months–whether it’s a change you’re expecting or one that blew in out of nowhere–this devotional will help you acknowledge your change, give your anxieties over to God, and abide well in the days to come.
Buc-ee’s: Do you have Buc-ee’s in your neck of the woods? David and I discovered it on a recent trip to Texas, and HOLY SMOKES it’s the convenience store to end all convenience stores. (Is it even in the same category as a convenient store?!?) The dark chocolate covered pecans! The breakfast tacos! The bathrooms that were the cleanest EVER! And?!? I heard recently that my own neck of the Colorado woods will have a Buc-ee’s in 2024! Glory be.
Sports Bra: After doing an inventory of my sad sports bra situation, I decided I needed a new one. I took a chance on this one from Amazon, and it doesn’t disappoint! It’s wonderfully supportive and is made of super soft material. It’s been a good find for me, and I plan to order more.
Plum Paper Planners: If you’re still looking for a new planner, I’m using this brand for the third year in a row. With its customizable and semi-customizable options, it’s AWESOME.
That’s all for today, dearhearts. Sending you much love!
Kristen
