Breaking news: It’s still winter, and it’s still cold. At least, that’s definitely the case in my neck of the Colorado woods. How is it in your own woods? I know many of you were walloped with severe winter storms in the last week or two. For those of you who live in the South and East especially, how did you fare?
Every whipstitch, I like to send out “a few of my favorite things” from me to you. As I’ve mentioned before, I used to share these via my newsletter, but they contributed to a rather long email. So, I’m sharing them here instead. And the reason I share them at all is because friends share with friends things they find and like! As is often the case, several of these favorites are tools that play a part in making traditions, which you know I love. Whether you see them that way or not, I hope there’s an item or two (or more!) below that blesses you!
30 Minute Spicy Indian Butter Chicken: First of all, let me tell you that I used much less of the red pepper flakes than this recipe called for, so mine wasn’t too spicy. (I like a hit of spice, but I can’t eat spicy food as much as I used to!) Second, it’s from Half-baked Harvest again, because did I even cook last week if I didn’t make at least one recipe from that website?! Anyway, my family loved this dish so much they praised me at the city gates.
Thrive Market: Thrive Market is a subscription service that offers the fancy (aka organic) snacks and “clean” household products for a discounted price. My daughter is a much healthier eater than I was at her age (I’m pretty sure most of my snacks consisted of Little Debbie snack cakes with a side of Coca-Cola), so I use Thrive Market to get some of her snacks for a better price. But I mainly use it to get our family’s vitamins. If you’re interested in checking out Thrive Market, feel free to use this link. It’s an affiliate link, but that adds no extra cost to you.
Kut from the Kloth High Rise Fab Flare jeans: Well, right off the bat let me come clean and tell you I got these on sale after Christmas for 40 bucks. But let me also tell you that they are worth the regular price. Y’all, I’ve mentioned how much I love my Madewell jeans, and I do. But these Kut from the Kloth jeans fit like a dream. I’m not one who ever thinks jeans are the most comfortable clothing, but these are changing my mind. Plus, they have enough flair at the bottom to look cute but not so much that they’re going to drag all over the place. I wear these several times a week! (Update: I just checked the link, and right now they’re on sale!)
The Cabinland on Instagram: My husband and I dream of building a simple cabin on our property one day. And while not all the cabins on this instagram page are simple, they are all fun to peruse!
1883: Okay, I feel like I need to sit down with some other folks who watch this show. This is the prequel to Yellowstone, the origin story of how the Duttons came to be in Montana. Are you watching 1883? If so, are you dying like me to have the very first segment of the show explained? But here we are coming up on episode 8, and I have no idea how it’s going to come together for one gal named Elsa (except we ultimately do, I guess). And good golly, do these folks ever bring me a new appreciation for the pioneer spirit.
Wall Calendars: Speaking of old timey things, I’ll always be a fan of the wall calendar. These by Lang are my favorites. I have this one in my office and this one in my kitchen. Perhaps if you haven’t gotten one by now you don’t plan to, but I wanted to still mention them because all Lang calendars are up to 75% off right now. (No code necessary.)
Illume Candles: Remember when I sung the praises of these candles in my Christmas Favorite Things list? Well, I found these same candles for a bit cheaper on Amazon. (Thanks to the BigBoo Cast podcast for pointing me in that direction!) Woodfire is a favorite for this time of year, but so is Winter White and Balsam & Cedar. With light but beautiful fragrances, an even, slow burn, and pretty containers, these may be my favorite candles I’ve found thus far.
Instagram Lives: For the month of February, I am once again holding Thursday Lives on Instagram where we chat about change. I always surprise myself about how much I enjoy these! I’d sure love to have you join me here at 3pm MST, 4pm CST on Thursdays (that’s today!). If you can’t tune in at that time, you can still watch it through my saved videos. You can watch the first one from last week here. Just a note that these February Live videos won’t stay up indefinitely, so if you’re interested in them, you may want to view them sooner than later.
When Change Finds You: 31 Assurances to Settle Your Heart When Life Stirs You Up: Since the New Year is a good time to get a new, more hopeful view of change, it’s a good time to check out my devo if you haven’t already. It’s not too late to give that gift to yourself!
That’s all for today, dearhearts. Sending you much love!
