Hello and happy end-of-January, dearhearts! Well, I’ve been goin’ nothin’ to ninety this month, and I hardly know where to start–other than with this month’s “These Are a Few of My Favorite Things,” mais bien sûr. (Or, “but of course” if you don’t speak fancy French like moi.😆)
Really, I don’t speak fancy French, either, unless you count the few phrases I remember from my high school French classes. But I wouldn’t mind learning more!
Anyhoo, sharing favorite finds…that’s what friends do for friends, right? Perhaps an item or two below will help you stay warm, cozy, and/or just plain entertained during the bleak midwinter.
These Are a Few of My Favorite Things
Flare Leggings: These pants have been my best friend this winter. In fact, I’m wearing them right now! They are soo comfortable with a high waste that is supportive but not restrictive. They’re a delight through and through. Since I first heard about these from Melanie Shankle, I’m sharing them here via her Amazon link!
One note for the taller gals: I’m 5’10”, and I ordered the 34″ inseam. They fit me perfectly.
Sloppy Joe Casserole: Trust me here…if you make this for your family, they will praise you at the city gates for it. I “leveled up” the recipe a bit by using the Kings Hawaiian pretzel rolls for the buns. DELISH.
Cherry Dr. Pepper Cake: My son, who loves cherry-anything as well as Dr. Pepper, has been staying with us for a few weeks before he leaves for his official grown-up job. I recently made him this cake, which turned out to be the easiest cake I’ve ever made. Let me tell you that cake-lover though I be, I’m picky as to what cake I eat. This one is spongy and delicious! As Prue from The Great British Baking Show would say, this cake is worth the calories!
Lavender Hand Sanitizer: If you’re like me and keep a little bottle of hand sanitizer in your purse, this one is a great option. It smells good and since it’s a mist, it’s gentler on your hands!
Dry Shampoo: Listen, I know they don’t give this stuff away. But it works beautifully well and allows me to get more mileage out of my hair in between washes. Worth it!
Sundance Jeans: Speaking of “not giving things away,” Sundance jeans aren’t cheap. In fact, Sundance anything isn’t cheap. But my husband bought me these jeans for Christmas (after I *may’ve* sent him the link requesting them), and I adore them. They fit like a dream with just the right amount of stretch to be super comfy. The pockets are very flattering, too. On another “fit” note: the length runs long. As a tall gal, I thought for sure I’d need the 34″ inseam, but the 32″ fits just right.
Gardiner Brothers: These brothers on Instagram delight me to no end. They’re twins, and this mama-of-twin-sons is always partial to twin brothers. They’re Irish, and this Irish girl loves that, too. And they dance up a storm. This dance of theirs was a favorite (naturally!) and this one released on Taylor Swift’s birthday is so fun. (Okay, I love this one, too.)
Zuppa Toscana Soup: Holy smokes, I made this and my husband, daughter, and I ate it right up. It’s de-lic-ious, perfect for a chilly night! Confession: Instead adding cream, I added Mascarpone cheese. A very good move.
Followup seasons to some of my favorite shows: Season 2 of Miss Scarlet and the Duke and The Gilded Age came out recently as well as the final season of The Crown. Miss Scarlet and the Duke only recently released, and wowzers did Episode 2 have a humdinger of a curve-ball. I’ve watched all of The Gilded Age AND LOVED IT SO MUCH. The last episode was *chef’s kiss” très magnifique (Oops, I did it again with the French). I’m on the final episode of The Crown, and it has made me laugh and cry, just like the whole season did for me. It’s SO good.
WoodWick Candles: If you love the sound of crackling wood, you’ll love WoodWick candles! I forgot I had a WoodWick candle that I hadn’t burned completely (they last a LONG time!), so I pulled it out of my cabinet and have loved the way it burns so beautifully and crackly. This one, with a more substantial wick, would be awesome. Such a cozy delight to have and enjoy!
That’s all for now, dearhearts. To see a list from last winter, visit here. And remember a lot of my “Favorite Things” can be found via my Amazon store here. As always, I earn a small commission from purchases made through Amazon links, but that comes at no extra cost to the purchase price or to you.
Have a wonderfully cozy weekend, friends.
