We settled in the booth at the brewery after church, the restaurant that is my husband’s choice place to dine on his birthday. We laughed when the waitress showed us to the exact same booth we sat for his birthday dinner there the year before.
It seemed a fitting place to celebrate my good man this year, too. My good man whose birthday, incidentally, is two days before Veterans Day. Given my man served 23 years as an active duty member of the Air Force, that seems a fitting birth-date.
As we settled into our seats, I noticed the televisions placed strategically on the walls. Before long, all our eyes drift to one screen playing a USAA commercial honoring our veterans.
When the commercial’s final shot came into view, my son read the words out loud:
To all who dared to take the oath,
thank you.
Ten words that largely sum up the importance of celebrating Veterans Day.
So from my corner blog booth of the world to all our vets–most especially to my favorite vet David– thank you. Thank you for bravely doing what you’re called to do so we can safely do what we’re free to do.
You provide us with no small gift, and I am thankful.

Keep scrolling below this gray box to link up a blog post featuring a favorite picture or picture and story of you and the special veteran in your life (spouse, parent, grandpa, uncle, aunt, friend, or whomever!). Or feel free to mention your vet in the comment section below the link-up.
If you add a photo to instagram, make sure you tag it with #LoveMyVeteran so we can find each other! (You can find me on instagram here.)
Also, join us again tomorrow when we widen the walls of our house of encouragement where I’ll offer a second linky for you to link up a bit of encouragement for the Veteran’s spouse.

A big THANK YOU to your husband for his service and to you for how you support him in all he does, and for how you encourage all of us military families. God bless you. I’m on a little getaway with my hero but went ahead and linked up the post I did right after we welcomed him home. 🙂
Much love.

Hi. My husband is currently serving in the Army and I am hosting a Veteran’s Day Breakfast at the elementary school my children attend. This water color picture with the quote is perfection. I am writing to ask if I can reprint and gift it to the veterans who attend our breakfast and ceremony. Please, please.
Thank you.
