Isn’t she lovely?! And she’s available NOW wherever you like to purchase books!🥳🥳🥳
If you’re one of the many, many people right now who feels lonely, that doesn’t make you weird or dysfunctional. It simply makes you a normal human.
On the subject of loneliness, the late Pastor Timothy Keller says, “To need and want deep friendships is not a sign of spiritual immaturity, but maturity. It’s not a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of health.”
Pastor Keller goes on to explain how in Genesis 1 and 2 of the Bible, God declares over and over that His creation is good. It’s not until Genesis 3 that God says for the first time–before sin enters the world–that something is not good. What does God say is not good?
That Adam is alone.
And thus Eve enters the chat, so to speak, after God created her.
It wasn’t good for Adam to be alone, and it’s not good for you and I to be alone, either.
And while you may know this, perhaps you don’t realize that loneliness is something we all face in our lives.
You are not alone in your loneliness.
Of course, the reason behind your loneliness and mine can certainly differ. You may be lonely because of:
- A move to a new location, such as a new town, state, or country.
- A new job or retirement from a job.
- The death of a close friend or loved one.
- A “ghosting” situation where a friend or friend group suddenly stopped communicating without explanation.
- An argument or rift that left lingering loss.
- Marriage struggles or the struggle of being single and wanting to be married.
- The onset of anxiety or depression that made it harder to reach out.
- A change in personal health or a loved one’s health.
- Being misunderstood.
- Another big life event, like becoming a parent or becoming an empty nester.
- Greater investment in social media than real-life relationships.
- Differing viewpoints.
- A change in your church home.
Through the contributions of over forty wondrous word writers, I believe Praying Through Loneliness will meet you in your circumstances like those mentioned above and more. It’ll give you right-now, come-alongside support in your own lonely season, however it found you.
