If there’s one word that finds me more than others, it’s ‘nice.’ Most of the time, I don’t mind it’s presence next to me. After all, the world could use all the nice folks it can get! And since I’m severely allergic to meanness, I have no interest in being the mean girl.
But in quiet coffee shop corners and across loud internet noise, two thoughts often tagalong with the word nice:
1. If you’re a nice girl, you’re not fierce or (gasp) smart.
2. If you’re a nice girl, then your words might not be taken seriously and instead waved off as meaningless, she’s-just-being-nice talk.
Today, I want to bring the word ‘nice’ back to our good graces. Wrapped up inside a nice personality is a colorful canvas of effervescent qualities, and I’m shining a light on those today. Will you join me here as we hash this out a little more? What are your own thoughts on the way nice is seen these days?
And also, if I may?
We are almost 2/3 the way to having our Care Packages for Military Spouses fully funded. I’d so love to have these 40 care packages on their way to 40 military spouses by Independence Day next month! If you feel led to show your love for military spouses and donate toward a care package, visit here. A (nice) big thank you in advance!
