About 30 minutes into my morning, my plans for the day did a 180. A sick daughter will do that to plans. No attending the volunteer appreciation breakfast at school. No attending my Moms & Beyond meeting. Instead, a yes to a day at home with my usually-active-but-now-slowed-down-girl. And yes to extra snuggling as she grabs my hand and plays with my wedding band while laying her head on my shoulder.
Later, she’s watching the Princess Protection Program, so I go upstairs to do a little work. Herein lies another yes, yes to cleaning the kitchen this morning instead of coming home to it this afternoon. Yes to a second cup of tea. Yes to staring out the window at budding trees and blue skies. I step outside for a few minutes, and let the sun work some magic on my wintery pale skin while the breeze carries my disappointments away.
They are all little things, but they remind me that a no from Him now means an even better yes later on. It’s a promise I need reminding of today.

Hmmm good words. The constant reassessment of motherhood. Good and hard and good.

Oh, my heart just let out a big happy sigh at this one. Thanks, friend!
