No matter what I have on tap for a week, there are things I regularly use that I love. These are mostly “old faithfuls,” if you will, because traditionally they’ve not let me down.
During times of robust change or calm familiar, I’m routinely thankful for the following items because they routinely work for me:
Chesapeake Bay Candles: These candles have an amazing price point and smell great but not too great. (That is, they don’t overwhelm me with a too strong scent.) I’m using their “Apples and Acorns” candle right now. You can find them on Amazon, too, but I get mine from Target.
Joico Humidity Blocker Finishing Hairspray: We’re blessed with low humidity in my neck of the woods, but an acquaintance of mine used this hairspray in Hawaii and said it was a saving grace. I LOVE it because it goes on nice and light, holds well without feeling sticky, and *does* protect my hair from humidity we have. A triple win! I only wash my hair a couple of times a week, and this spray really does help it to stay looking nice in-between washes!
Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara: My daughter and I both use this and love this. In my humble opinion, it works just as well as a lot of the bigger name brands like Benefit and Buxom.
Vaseline Intensive Care Almond Smooth Lotion: My absolute favorite lotion is Hummingbird Farms’ Lavender Citrus Heavy Cream, but this brand has a better price point. It gets very dry here in Colorado, and this lotion goes is moisturizing without feeling greasy. As a side note, I first heard about it because it was a “2021 Beauty Brand” winner in a Southern Living magazine article I read. So, I’m not the only one who likes it!
Aquiphor chapstick: Best chapstick hands down.
Madewell jeans: I bought my first pair two years ago, and while I also enjoy my two pairs of Kut from the Kloth jeans, the Madewell brand is my favorite!
Hair TeleTies: Once again, this is something both my daughter and I both love these because not only are they gentler on your hair and don’t pull as much of it out, but they’re also not going to cut off the blood supply to your hand when it’s on your wrist. LOVE these. I prefer the small, but there are large ones too.
My Instagram book club with Holley Gerth: This better qualifies as a “new faithful” as we just wrapped up week three of the book club. But good golly, I so enjoy talking about change and discussing When Change Finds You with Holley as well as all those who show up with us Live on Instagram! If you’ve missed our book club you can still watch the first, second, and third meetings under the video tabs of my Instagram profile. The next meeting will be this Thursday, Nov. 18th, where we’ll wrap up When Change Finds You and then move on to talking through Holley’s book, What Your Soul Needs In Stressful Times. (As a side note, Amazon is offering both our books in their buy 2 get 1 free sale right now.)
Also, you might like to know that Holley and I are giving away a BIG gift card to one person who has read both books and leaves a review for both books. Tune into our next book club meeting on Nov. 18th for the details. To do that, all you have to do is open your Instagram at 1pm CST next Thursday, and you’ll find us!
That’s all for now, folks! Have a wonderful weekend!
